Trump Mobile and the $499 'T1' phone
On June 16, 2025, the sons launched Trump Mobile, a Trump-branded wireless carrier, with a $47.45/month plan ('The 47 Plan,' referencing the 47th presidency) and a $499 gold 'T1' smartphone - extending the family's in-office monetization into consumer telecom while the administration sets telecom, tariff, and spectrum policy. An estimated 600,000 people put down $100 deposits.
The venture drew scrutiny on its 'made in America' claims: launched amid Trump's tariff push to reshore manufacturing (Lutnick's 'army of millions... screwing in little screws'), the T1 shipped nearly nine months late (after slipping from August 2025 through several dates) and was reported to be a rebranded existing Android handset rather than US-manufactured. The family licenses its name to the carrier for fees.
As with the other consumer ventures, the conflict is the president's family selling branded telecom products while his administration regulates the sector - proximity and brand converted into a recurring consumer-revenue stream.
