“We are now the only Country in the World that uses Mail-In Voting.”
At least 34 countries or territories allow mail-in voting, according to the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance, including Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, and Switzerland. PolitiFact rated Trump's 'only country' claim flatly False.
This is not a new or fringe practice abroad. Australia has had postal voting for more than a century, every Canadian voter has been eligible to vote by mail since 1993, and Germany counted millions of postal ballots in its February 2025 national election. The United States itself has used mail voting since the Civil War.
Trump also has no power to ban mail voting by decree. The Constitution's Elections Clause (Article I, Section 4) assigns the regulation of elections to the states and Congress, and Trump himself has repeatedly voted by mail in Florida.
